Cam Trew spent six years as a software engineer (a startup, Elastic Path, Base, Vonage), becoming a senior engineer in London by 26. Feeling unfulfilled, he left his apartment lease, moved back in with his parents, and started exploring business ideas. Three months later Jake Ward -- who had built Kleo, a free Chrome extension for LinkedIn content discovery, to 60,000+ users before a LinkedIn cease-and-desist -- proposed rebuilding it as a paid web platform. Cam built Kleo v2.0 from scratch in four weeks as the technical cofounder, alongside Jake Ward and Lara Acosta (300K+ combined LinkedIn followers) and Rob Hoffman. The relaunched product -- an AI writing platform that learns a creator's voice, plans content, and schedules LinkedIn posts -- reached $62K MRR within three months of launch; a sister product, Mentions (AI-answer brand-monitoring), separately does $20K MRR under the same team.
